LETHAL LANDSLIDES
A landslide occurs when tectonic plates beneath the soil of the mountain slide beneath each other. The soil that covers the tectonic plate moves wherever it goes. When a steep slope suffers a disaster such as an earthquake, a portion of the soil slips away, creating a pretty deadly landslide. In 1920, Kansu, China, suffered an earthquake which led into a landslide. This deadly disaster killed up to 160,000 people and left a further 20,000 missing.
